Five hours from Paris by train, Strasbourg is the capital of Alsace, a rich land between France and Germany. Because of that, the people of Strasbourg have inherited something from both cultures to make their own. The symbol of the city is its one-spire cathedral, built during the 13th century; it is the highest building in the town. Strasbourg is a very popular destination. There are many monuments and museums to visit, presenting pieces of art from the Middle Ages (Museum of Notre-Dame) to today’s most famous artists (Museum of Modern Art). In Strasbourg are some of the very best restaurants in Alsace, with typical specialties like choucroute and flammakuche.  Excellent wines are produced not far from the city.  Welcoming tourists from all around the world, Strasbourg has many hotels with low prices, as well as a few of very high standard. Very original, the bar is a converted old boat. During the day you can have a drink at the terrace, either protected from the sun or basking in it…as you like.  At night, it becomes disco with dance floors and loud music. If you want to meet Strasbourg locals rather than tourists, this is the place to go.
