Starry, starry night/Paint your palette blue and gray/Look out on a summer’s day/With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.   On July 27, 1890, *Vincent Van Gogh shot himself. He died two days later. He was 37.  A few days earlier, he wrote to his brother:   I have painted three more big canvases…. They are vast fields of wheat under troubled skies, and I did not need to go out of my way to try to express sadness and extreme loneliness….
