La Chandeleur (Candlemas Day) is a traditional holiday that is celebrated on Sunday, February 2nd. After 8pm on this day it is customary to eat crêpes, and if the cook can flip a crêpe with one hand while holding a coin in the other, it is said that his family will live favorably that year. Much like Groundhog Day, which is celebrated on the same date, there is folklore that predicts the arrival of spring according to the day’s weather.
