Photo of the Week – May 9, 2014
319

This week’s photo is a strongly composed image capturing a summer moment in Marseille, France’s largest city on the Mediterranean coast. The city has long struggled to keep it’s coast clean, and in 2012, they became the second city in France to introduce special water pollution monitoring technology. Last year, they began reporting daily on water cleanliness and posting the results at each lifeguard station. The wind direction determines whether the water is turquoise-blue or quite dirty, but regardless, the allure of the sea remains a major summer attraction to locals and tourists alike.
