Photo of the Week – June 6, 2014
404
This week’s photo celebrates the arrival of summer in the south of France with an image that overlooks the Massif des Calanques, the range of calanques extending for 20 kilometers along the Mediterranean coast between Marseille and Cassis. The word “calanque” comes from Corsican and Occitan languages, and translates as a steep-walled inlet, bay or cove made of limestone and found along the Mediterranean coast. The valleys are formed by fluvial erosion or caves that have collapsed over time. It is definitely a view worth seeing if you are in the region.
