This photograph of the bulls being released in Les Arènes d’Arles (the Arles Amphitheatre) was taken in 1963. La Feria d’Arles, a festival centered on le taureau (the bull) and bullfighting, is held twice a year in Arles – once in September and once in April. Starting today and continuing until the April 21st, the Easter feria marks the opening of the French bullfighting season and attracts more than 500,000 people. For more information, visit the site.
