While we are “sheltering in place” on the other side of the pond, New York, it occurred to me that I didn’t know where our great American icon “Whistler’s Mother” might be confined. Was she still in the Louvre Abu Dhabi, where she was when I had been in Paris last January 2019? Or back in her hometown, Paris, in the Musée d’Orsay? Or maybe she was on tour? I remember seeing her for the first time in the Louvre, back in 1972. Hmmm: where is Mrs. Anna McNeill Whistler these days?
Come to think of it, let’s all check our memory banks, while we wait to visit these beloved old friends sheltering among their fellow masterpiece buddies.
