Making a Reservation
There is no guarantee that in France you will always find people with excellent English skills.  But at the Hotel Britannique, we didn’t come across one person who didn’t speak excellent English.   Our positive experience began when we placed our first phone call for a reservation during our next visit to Paris. We had heard many good things about the Britannique and wanted to try the hotel ourselves.   The receptionist was warm and we were lucky to be coming at a time when there was some availability within the hotel.  Luckily enough, one of the six rooms with balconies was then reserved – it had our name on it!     To top it all off, the weather was great during our 4 day stay in Paris. And we were able to begin our days with an excellent breakfast and end the evenings with some good French wine – all, of course, outside on the balcony.   Those times when we left the room and asked for help downstairs, such as for taxi reservations, information about opening hours or help with placing phone calls in general, we never had anything to complain about. No matter what our question or problem was, we were always accommodated and never had the feeling that the French ‘don’t like Americans.’  We always heard this when Paris and the French were brought up. But none of the people we met at the Hotel Britannique fit that prejudice at all.   Our little booklet with French/English phrases was very useful during our trip to Paris, but there was no use for it at the Hotel Britannique – again, the warm and welcoming service couldn’t have been better!
