Le Chateau de Chantilly

Le Chateau de Chantilly
My wife and I decided it would be good to take our two young daughters on a day trip outside of Paris last weekend and friends of ours suggested the Château de Chantilly. I had never heard of it, but what could be wrong with a castle of whipped cream! The Château is located only twenty minutes past Aéroport Charles de Gaulle; I am always amazed at how little time it takes once we have exited the Périphérique to reach the countryside of France. We arrived on a perfectly sunny Sunday afternoon at the stunning castle sitting peacefully surrounded by a still-intact moat. Although I often value image quality and file size of portability of camera equipment, I have recently been experimenting with different applications for the iPhone. I clicked on my iPhone and took one photo, not common for me as I typically shoot lots and lots and lots of film. I love the road leading our eye from left to right, the view of a family walking, and then the majestic Castle of Chantilly. Prior to returning to 35mm format for digital images, I shot almost exclusively in square format with the Hasselblad manual camera system. I still find that I prefer images cropped to a square and so this application fits very well within my vision. Technical details – Iphone 3Gs, using the Hipstamatic application. www.claypix.com For more photography by Clay McLachlan: Beyond the Bread Basket: Recipes for Appetizers, Main Courses, and Desserts by Eric Kayser, Clay McLachlan, and Yair Yosefi  French Cooking: Classic Recipes and Techniquesby Hubert Delorme, Vincent Boue, Clay McLachlan, and Paul BocuseEric Kayser’s New French Recipes by Eric Kayser, Yair Yosefi, and Clay McLachlan   If you’re coming to France and want to stress taken out of any and all planning, dynamo Lisa Buros-Hutchins of www.YourParisExperience.com can arrange anything and everything, including planning your honeymoon and/or making dinner reservations.
