BonjourParis is offering readers a chance to win a lunch for two at La Brasserie de l’Isle Saint-Louis. The brasserie is among the last great Parisian brasseries that have maintained independence with authentic 100+ year old nostalgic décor. Perfectly positioned at the tip of Isle Saint-Louis in front of Notre-Dame de Paris, the restaurant offers guests a panoramic view of the Seine, the Left Bank and the Pantheon from the terrace.
The brasserie is second and third generation run and known for serving only homemade cuisine including a critically-acclaimed choucroute garnie and patron favorites such as cassoulet and sole meunière.
A home away from home for the rich and famous (John Frankenheimer, James Earl Jones, and Richard Burton in years past and more recently, Rudy Giuliani, Al Pacino, Ralph Fiennes, Nigel Kennedy, Danny DeVito, and Patrick Stewart) as well as politicians, writers, photographers, artists, journalists, tourists, and trendy and old fashion bourgeois Parisians. All guest are “served equally” by old fashioned “titi parisiens” waiters, famous for their speed. Some have been working at the restaurant for almost 30 years and know every customer!
La Brasserie de l’Isle Saint-Louis is located at 55 Quai Bourbon, 75004 Paris. It is open every day except Wednesday from noon to 11pm. No reservations are necessary. www.labrasserie-isl.fr
