Marc Meneau
Le Saut du Loup is the hip black and white canteen (design by Philippe Boisselier) located in the Musée des Art Decoratif. On two levels, facing the Jardins of the Carrousel and, with Boisselier’s brilliant play of mirrors, the Eiffel Tower’s everywhere. “Here you can combine culture, sighseeing and gastronomy, which is really exciting”, reflected brilliant superchef Marc Meneau one day this week.
The owners of Le Saut du Loup asked Meneau (father of Pierre who, alert readers know, just launched his own Paris canteen “the boy’s doing well”, said Dad.) to brainstorm with chef Jérôme Aubert and create what Meneau calls “Gout du Jardin” or “Le Jardin du Gout”. “We’re not creating grand cuisine here, just simple dishes, using products from the best suppliers, wines from my vineyards. I don’t like the word picnic, it’s English”, he sniffed. So just say that, with the terrace and the gardens, coming here is a “Dejeuner sur l’Herbe moment”. Oui chef.
