‘The Library is delighted to welcome back the celebrated San Francisco theater company that puts great American short stories on stage – word for word. Returning to Paris for the 22nd year, Word for Word will perform the story All Aunt Hagar’s Children, by Edward P. Jones on 27 and 28 March at the American School of Paris. The running time is 1h45m, with no intermission. There is a light reception after the performance on Monday 27 March and a live auction of the stage props after the performance on Tuesday 28 March.

Set in 1950s Washington, D.C., this noir tale spotlights a young Korean War vet who sets out to solve a murder and becomes entangled in a web of family history. Along the way, he is unsettled by another death—a young woman whose last words haunt him and his investigation. Edward P. Jones evokes a neighborhood of vivid characters, telling a story about the strength of family and the choices that shape our lives. More information on the San Francisco production is at ZSpace.’
