As Maison & Objet-– the major French trade show– celebrates its 20th anniversary, what’s new in design this Autumn?
Running from September 4-8 this year, the Maison & Objet event is the go-to platform for emerging trends. A veritable goldmine of furniture, fabrics, kitchenware, restaurant, spa, and household design, as well as architecture.
This season the enormous halls at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center are grouped by lifestyle themes. The “Maison” space is divided into four sectors where themes vary from eclectic to cosy, current to elegant– and feature hundreds of inspirational brands like House Doctor, Jonathan Adler, and Manbo Unlimited.
The “Objet” area is designed as a concept store featuring crafts, métiers d’art, fragrances, cook + design, and more. Look for brands like Souffleur de Rêve, Tomuko Tokuda, Vivienne Maun, and 727 Sailbag.
The “Luxe, Design & Architecture” area celebrates the “exceptional” with exhibitors such as Sigebene, Acra Design, Bricard, Bodo Sperlein and Solitair. Even fun finds a place here with games from Geoffrey Parker and furnishings for wine cellars and bars from ELITE TO BE.
The year 2015 has seen a new chapter for MAISON&OBJET, which is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Fair, the second MAISON&OBJET ASIA (10-13 March) in Singapore and the launch of MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS (12-15 May) Miami Beach.
“What I like about Maison & Objet is that it allows young designers to get a foot in the door, it’s a breeding ground for young talent,” says Philippe Starck.
