Paris — Bordeaux

This week I traveled back and forth on France’s bullet train to Bordeaux twice (I will be happy when they cut the time down to two hours in 2014). This gave me some extra time to reflect on these two cities. First there’s Paris, with its limitless angles that make me stop and say WOW! In the shadows of the Eiffel Tower I took a quick call on my mobile phone and then turned around and saw this from the alley I ducked into while avoiding as much street noise as possible.

Then there’s Bordeaux, a city dominated by the history of one of the world’s great wine regions. On both of my visits I was received by winery owners that I was assigned to photograph. This photo is an early-afternoon image taken while riding the small train between Libourne (home of the Right Bank wines of Pomerol and Saint Emilion) and Bordeaux’s Gare Saint Jean.
