Sights For New Travelers to Paris
Figuring out exactly what to do and see in Paris can get overwhelming. The city is teeming with possibility, and it’s already tricky enough to figure out where to even start. That’s why AmericanConcierge.com and their team created this helpful list that covers everything from the best activities for new travelers to fantastic day trips outside of Paris.
The Eiffel Tower
Everyone knows this monument is an international icon; the Eiffel Tower is a symbol of the Paris that we all know and love! Our tour ensures an unforgettable experience at this landmark– with a ‘skip the line pass’, guided by our knowledgeable experts.
If you don’t have time to climb the Iron Lady, then don’t forget to pack a picnic and stare up from the Champ de Mars. This massive park surrounds the tower so that you can enjoy a lunch or sunset picnic on the luscious green grass with an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower.
A great street to visit for food shopping is the Rue Cler. This famous market street is only a 15-minute walk from the park and has everything you could possibly desire from wine to fine cheese, meat to French gourmet classics. There’s even a flower shop if you feel like adding a little color to your picnic.
For more than 10 years, the Paris Plages transforms the Seine every summer into a beach chock full of fun and entertainment. You’ll find deckchairs, food stalls, and even volleyball nets so that if you can’t escape to the beaches on the French Riviera, at least you can bring the beach straight to the city. There are also beaches set up along the canal at the Bassin de la Villette, which is worth a visit for boating, a zip line, and more!
Activities for Families
Did you know there is an aquarium in Paris? It lies on the edge of the Trocadero gardens and makes for an excellent visit after spending some time at the Eiffel Tower. The aquarium itself is home to clownfish, puffers, sharks, and stingrays. While there are no dolphin shows here, there are still lots of demonstrations each day for kids to enjoy. The aquarium hosts activities about the animals as well as shows featuring pirates.
Day Trips from Paris
Many of you have been to the Versailles palace, but there’s another chateau that deserves the spotlight. The Chateau de Fontainebleau is a beautiful architectural monument situated only an hour’s train ride outside of Paris, and it’s much less busy than Versailles. The chateau boasts a large garden where rowboats and bikes can be rented. The chateau itself is stunning, home to original period furniture pieces. You can admire these masterpieces without the crowds around every corner. There’s a vast forest surrounding the area which makes it an excellent spot for hiking and exploring.
